At the regular meeting of the Northlake Mandeville Rotary Club on October 19, 2023, club members heard from Jason Schneider of the Border Patrol. Jason is one of the leaders of the 20 geographic sectors in the U.S. He is responsible for 7 States. Jason told us that the Cartels are a main force in the 2 million plus per year border incursions. The cost paid to the Cartel can run from $5,000 to $60,000 per person depending on the country of origin. Cartel members are now flying people to Canada and helping them cross the borders of Vermont and New York.
